**PROGRAM Schedule**

- **4:00 – 5:00** How Gender Bias in Medicine Leaves Women Dismissed, Misdiagnosed, and Sick with Maya Dusenbery
- **5:00 – 6:00** Networking. *Light refreshments will be served.*

**Bio**: Maya Dusenbery is a journalist and author of the book *Doing Harm: The Truth About How Bad Medicine and Lazy Science Leave Women Dismissed, Misdiagnosed, and Sick* (HarperOne, 2018). Described in the *New York Times Book Review* as "well researched \[and\] wonderfully truculent," *Doing Harm* was named one of the best books of 2018 by NPR and won the Minnesota Book Award for general nonfiction. Maya has been interviewed about gender bias in medicine on Fresh Air, Good Morning America, and countless radio shows and podcasts. She regularly gives talks on the subject to students, health care providers, patient advocates, and biomedical industry employees. Previously the editorial director of the trailblazing feminist blog Feministing, she has also been a fellow at *Mother Jones* magazine and a columnist at *Pacific Standard*. Her freelance writing has appeared in many publications including the *New York Times Magazine*, *Scientific American*, *Slate*, and *The Atlantic*, as well as the anthology *The Feminist Utopia Project*. A Minnesota native, she now lives in Portland, Oregon.
